The twilight zone

Crossing the Hudson River (actually going under it) was the start of a strange, surreal sensation. As I was coming in and seeing the skyline, the realization started that this is now home. No longer is it a tourist destination - this is where I live. Talk about a ton to take in. After checking into my tiny hotel room with a window that looked out on to nothing but a wall, I walked around and tried to absorb it all. I guess I was shell shocked.
I have to understand that I need to build an independant life here - dinner with Greekie was great but I can't rely on my small group of friends to entertain me and build my network.
Thought for the day - shoes are going to be more important than I thought! With all the walking that I anticipate, shoes and comfort and how long until they wear out was not on my radar at all!
